[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The sun is high up outside of the court at the Social Service of Commerce (SESC) of Acauã, in the interior (sertão) of Piauí, but it doesn’t keep the boys back from joining the soccer school that is being offered by our base with the Project Timothy. This work is one of the many fruit that we have seen in partnership with Iris Piaui while implementing the community development projects with the suffering church in the interior of Brazil.

Not all of the more than 40 students have great skills but they sure do have the will. While some are learning some new techniques and tactical knowledge of the game, they also are discipled in Kingdom values – such as praying together before the class starts or after each one of their “trainings”. They are also taught respect for one another and fair play. As much as it sounds simple these core values are somewhat counter cultural to the region, the northeast, where they are brought up taught that they should always have the final word in everything. One of our important lessons is that no one is allowed to use hard or foul language.

Lucas, who roots for vasco (a team from Rio de Janeiro), is 11 years old and plays as mid-field. He doesn’t miss one class, which happens every monday and friday at 3pm. One team is made up of teenagers that are also engaged with the project in the mornings. Many of these teenagers will go to the classes in the morning after having spent a few hours working in the farms or they’ll leave and go straight back to helping in the orchard or doing some construction work to help their families with some incone. But we’re seing the Kingdom of God manifesting in their lives through ball, friendship and discipling.

You can be a part of this project and invest in the lives of these children and teenagers of the suffering church of Brazil. Become a partner with MORE and join us in the restoration of hope and childhood in the sertão.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”3054,3055,3056″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
